Importing Leads into Excel

Instructions:

lead retrieval usb stickThe purpose of these instrucitions and videos is to assit you with importing the leads data from your USB drive or SD card into Microsoft Excel. You will be converting from your event or trade show from a comma delimited text file (.txt) to a Microsoft Excel File.

1. Insert your USB Thumb or SD Card into your computer

2. Open the Microsoft Excel Program

3. Select 'File' > 'Open' from the top menu

4. Under 'My Computer' look for the removable disc/drive (This could be an "E:" drive or "F:" Drive etc. depending on your system)

5. Under the 'Files of Type' drop down menu near the bottom of the window, choose 'All Files'.

6. You will now see a text file called 'Visitor' or a file that starts with the letter 'V' and has numbers after it. Doubleclick on this file or click the 'Open' button.

7. You will now see the text import wizard window pop-up

8. The 'Delimited' button should already be checked by default (if it is not then go ahead and check this button). Click 'Next'

9. Uncheck the 'Tab' button and select the 'Comma' button. Click 'Next'

10. Click Finish

11. You should now see all your leads imported into Microsoft Excel

12. To format your leads and clean up the appearance, you can select all of the data in the file by clicking on the top left grey cell of the document or pressing 'ctrl+A' on your keyboard. You will see all the data become highlighted.

13. Select 'Format' > 'Columns' > 'Autofit Selection' from the menus at the top of the screen

14. This will format the appearance of your data to make it easier to read.

15. To save the file as a Microsoft Excel File (.xls), select 'File' > 'Save As'.

16. Under the 'Save as Type' drop down menu choose 'Microsoft Office Excel Workbook'and then name and save the file to your computer.
