SmartSource was originally founded in 1984 under the name Rent-a-PC, Inc. At the time, Rent-a-PC focused on providing premium-quality computer rental solutions to the corporate and professional community. In 2007, we changed our name to SmartSource Computer & Audio Visual Rentals to better reflect the breadth and depth of our service offerings that had grown well beyond that of “renting PC’s.”
In 2007, Kirtland Capital Partners, a private equity firm located in Cleveland, OH, acquired a majority interest in SmartSource. Kirtland’s investments focus on mid-sized companies with the potential to grow both organically and through acquisitions. The strategic, operational and financial resources provided by this partnership further enhance the ability of SmartSource to grow and to retain its position of leadership in the computer and audio visual rental industry, thereby ensuring continued success for us all.
Today, we serve a wide range of customers from small to large including Fortune 500 companies; financial institutions; leading accounting, legal, and consulting firms; hotels; high tech companies and government agencies. Our customers rely on us for training programs, trade shows, corporate events, temporary project needs, peak-season use for businesses and more.
