At SmartSource, we believe in giving back to the communities in which we live and work. We encourage our employees to volunteer their time with worthy organizations and enable them, through special programs, to participate during company time.
In addition, SmartSource has offered to match employee contributions dollar for dollar to select organizations in times of need.
Two of our Corporate office employees spent an afternoon working with the STAR Foundation, an organization that focuses on the conservation and preservation of Long Island wildlife. They rolled up their sleeves and pitched in at a facility that rescues and cares for injured, displaced, and orphaned wild animals. Many animals are successfully rehabilitated and released back to the wild, thanks to the volunteers who give of their time.
One of our Solutions Architects works with the Orlando Tech Association to promote the use of technology for startups and charities throughout Greater Orlando. Through this relationship, SmartSource was able to join in helping out as well by donating several laptops and iPads to the Community Hope Center in Kissimmee, an outreach organization that aids the homeless and down-on-their-luck with food, job skills, and general information and support.
A member of our LA office volunteers her time with A Promise of Hope, whose mission is to facilitate a better quality of life by providing financial and emotional assistance to patients undergoing breast cancer treatments in Los Angeles County. She recently helped work a fireworks stand during a fundraising event.
In partnership with Women’s Voices Now, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower young women from underserved communities through digital journalism and media training, SmartSource recently served as a sponsor for a training program for 20 young women offered by GlobalGirl Media (GGM) by providing several laptops for the training, which took place at USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
SmartSource employees donated their time at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando. They spent an afternoon working at the non-profit organization’s distribution center, which provides food for over 150 organizations that feed families in need in the Central Florida area.
Chicago team members volunteered their time during a program designed to assist children with disabilities who are challenged with learning how to ride a bike. The employees said it was very fulfilling to see the children smile and gain confidence while learning a new skill during a full-week camp in an effort to help remove barriers.
Several Corporate office employees spent an afternoon volunteering at the Helping Hand Rescue Mission on Long Island. Members of our SmartSource Marketing team helped out with merchandising donations and setting up for a fundraiser sale, which helps the Mission provide resources and assistance to those who are in need.
Our Client Solutions Manager from Texas participated in an online “Pawction” benefiting Long Way Home, a non-profit organization that saves cats and small dogs from euthanasia in Texas shelters. She made and donated a “Dogs in Sweaters” lap quilt for an auction that helped this foster-based, volunteer rescue which runs exclusively on public donations.
